Gen Z is a coffee-loving generation with dynamic, entrepreneurial, and creative lifestyles, but they haven’t yet formed strong brand loyalties in the coffee market. As TikTok’s influence grew, Costa Coffee recognised a unique opportunity to build meaningful connections with this audience.
The goal was to create a campaign that showcased Costa’s extensive range of innovative products and services in a way that resonated with Gen Z’s interests and seamlessly integrated into their highly personalised TikTok experience.

A range of tailored visual assets was designed to leverage TikTok’s algorithm, delivering hyper-personalised experiences for the first time. The campaign personified the algorithm as a relatable character, adapting it to various TikTok subcultures and trends. Fourteen executions were created, aligning with specific viewer interests—from ASMR videos for relaxation seekers to cottagecore content for nature lovers—showcasing Costa’s product range, including ready-to-drink cans, frothy hot chocolates, and the KitKat x Costa Coffee muffin.
Influencer collaborations were integrated to amplify the campaign, with creators encouraged to interpret Costa Coffee’s tailored content. The project successfully positioned Costa Coffee as a go-to brand for Gen Z by resonating with target audiences through platform-specific, innovative designs.
